The sidewalk repairs along Summerland Avenue are nearing completion.  The crew from J&H Paving and Grading have been working to repair nearly 800’ of broken and damaged sidewalks along the nearly 100 year old pathway.  The sidewalk was originally installed in 1925 to aid in the pedestrian traffic of students from Summerland College (now the site of Batesburg-Leesville High School) to downtown Batesburg (now the historic Batesburg Business District).  The project also made the intersection at Miller Street more handicap accessible by building up the sidewalk to road level.  Work should be completed in March.
