Chief David W. Bouknight, III, serves as the Chief of Police for the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department. Chief Bouknight also serves at the agency's Evidence Custodian. David “Dave” Willard Bouknight, III, was born and raised in Batesburg-Leesville. He graduated from Batesburg-Leesville High School in 1995. He attended Clemson University and received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education: Human Resource Development in 2000. Dave is currently enrolled at Clemson University and in the process of obtaining a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
Dave began his law enforcement career while at Clemson University as a reserve officer for the Town of Pickens. Upon graduation, he continued his reserve time with the Springdale Police Department, where he was hired full time in March of 2002. He rose to the rank of Sergeant while with the Springdale Police Department. In November of 2007, he began his time with the Town of Batesburg-Leesville Police Department. During his time with the Town of Batesburg-Leesville, he has held the positions of Patrol Sergeant, Engineer with the Batesburg-Leesville Fire Department, Code Enforcement, Crime Scene/Evidence Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and is currently the Chief of Police.
Dave is married and has two children. His family has three dogs and they all love spending time together. He is active member at Hulon Baptist Church, where he is a Deacon and runs the sound system for church services.
